North Shore Minnesota
A few months ago Mike was begging me to go camping with him, and at the time it wasn't doable. Last month I decided to just go for it and book a couple nights at one of our favorite national parks - The Split Rock Lighthouse National Park.
The weekend turned out to be perfect. Of course there were a bunch of things we wished didn't happen, but that's camping.
Somehow we roped a few of our friends to go camping with us. This was their first time camping in adulthood, so we tried to for warn them of all the challenges camping can have. Hopefully they still like us after the weekend. Lol.
We left for up north on Friday afternoon and unfortunately didn't make it up there till 8:00p. We BASICALLY had enough time to set up the tents and unpack our stuff. Another thing we learned when we got there was : our campsite was up a hill. ALLLLLL the way back into the woods. Awesome for seclusion - not so fun to walk up and down, oh and to take a cart of all our belongings up and down as well. Regardless, we lived and after we set up the bare essentials we made our intense dinner of Steak and veggies in the dark.
After our meal in the dark, we burned through all our wood we brought up and decided to just go to sleep. IT WAS COLD. It was 30 degrees and not fun. Thankfully we all brought thick sleeping bags and a lot of blankets, so we all survived the first night.
The next morning we made breakfast over the bonfire and decided to do some exploring.
We took the car and rode another 10 mins to Palisade Head. The overlook and all the rocks there are so pretty. Plus the view of superior is UNREAL. Totally worth hiking and climbing.
After Palisade Head we decided to stop in Beaver bay and check out a couple of things. We stopped for ice cream and a random flea market on the side of the road. So cool!
After a little adventuring, we went back to the campsite and had some lunch. All of us were so tired that we took a little siesta before continuing on with more adventures.
Once we napped, we headed into Two Harbor's to check out the Castle Danger Brewery. I honestly never took a picture of the outside of it, I just took a picture of the building across the street from it. lol
Super cute town and a really cool brewery. HIGHLY recommend the castle cream ale and the saison. SO good!
Afterwards we headed back, had some dinner and checked out the split rock area some more. Love pebble beach and the lighthouse!
We then stayed up and had some s'mores and just hung out before going back to sleep.
The next morning we packed everything up and went home! Sad we had to rush to leave, but again the weekend was super fun.
Thanks so July and Dillon for coming up with us!
