Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

My Top 4 "Coolest" Restaurants in Minneapolis

My Top 4 "Coolest" Restaurants in Minneapolis

So to continue on with my series, here are some spots in Minne I think are pretty cool.

Those of you that have been following me for a while would maybe know that I'm a sucker for a restaurant with a good aesthetic. I'm ALL about trendy designs/decor, good food, drinks and the atmosphere of a restaurant. There have been a few restaurants that have popped up recently in Minneapolis that are honestly KILLING it. Of course there are a ton of really awesome restaurants that fit into this category, but these are the ones that just stand out to me at the moment. (ps, if you don't like hipster/trendy places then you can just skip this blog lol)

1. Hai Hai

The restaurant creators of Hola Arepa in South Minneapolis opened this new awesome restaurant in North East Minneapolis called Hai Hai. You honestly can't miss this place driving by, because it screams color and vibrancy. The first thing I tell people about this restaurant is PICTURES DON'T DO IT JUSTICE. The pictures may make this place look really cool, but you just have to go to see how really unique and cute this place is. I first visited Hai Hai in the beginning of winter after a few days of intense snow, and it was marvelous to walk in and feel like I had just walked into a tropical island. They serve Vietnamese food, but I wouldn't call this your typical Vietnamese restaurant. I would say it has an trendy Asian vibe to it. Most of their plates have the intention of sharing as a group and I would say that their menu is pretty reasonably priced. They have an awesome drink menu as well, so if you want to go grab a few fun drinks with your girlfriends, I would check this place out. They recently added a brunch menu, which I haven't had yet, so i'll be going back soon to test it out soon. Let me know if you're interested in me reviewing their brunch menu!

2. Grand Cafe

Of course I had to add this to my list. A while back, Grand Cafe gained new owners and redid the space and menu. It has a very vintage Parisian vibe with a eclectic yet sophisticated menu. I love how they decorated the place and all the feels I get from walking into this space. Any restaurant that uses a lot of plants to decorate - I'm all about. Although the menu has a French inspiration, you won't find any french fries. If you're feeling like eating something cuisine and classy - then come here! They just recently added a brunch menu, so again, another brunch place for me to check out!

3. Martina

Martina opened late last year and for sure have been killing it ever since. Its one those places that in order to get a table, you need to make reservations a few weeks in advance. Every time I go to Martina, I think of LA. Its trendy and inviting. The space is decorated modern with exposed wood that's painted white and the bar has a marble counter top. The space is cool and classy, and the food on their menu is to die for. It is Argentinian inspired and everything I've tasted is amazing. The empanadas, the spaghetti with lobster and the salmon are some of my favorites. They do brunch here as well, and its incredible. OH, and you have to try their cocktails. They have some of the coolest (and nicest) bartenders I've ever met who love mixing you up something creative. Its just one of those places again that you just need to check out for yourself and see what everyone else is raving about.

4. Fig and Farro

This is one of the newest restaurant openings in uptown Minneapolis and I was so impressed I had to add it to the list. Fig and Farro is a vegetarian and vegan friendly restaurant (all of the hands up emjoi's for my vegetarian followers). They have a very creative and well done menu. Their mac and cheese is EVERYTHING and its vegan! Their menu items got me giddy and excited, but what really won me over was their space. I personally got to meet the creative director and I personally told her how brilliant I thought she was. Its decorated very vintage/eclectic but sophisticated. There are vintage rugs, tables, mix matched chairs, rich painted walls, pretty wall paper, plants and lots of vibrant colors. Everything about the decor was screaming my name. Again, I feel like my pictures don't do it justice, so stop in sometime and tell them I sent ya!

So, there ya have it! 4 restaurants that I think are pretty cool and worth visiting. Let me know if you've found some more that you think I should check out next.

Thanks for taking the time to read and check out more pictures of these restaurants on my instagram (onasugardiet)!

Until next week,
