5 Coffee Shops in the Twin Cities I'm Loving Right Now

Spring 2018

I've decided to start a little series on my blog of places I would recommend. It only seems natural because i'm ALREADY recommending them on my Instagram, but I thought these blog posts would be for the person thats searching for something more specific and organized. I honestly can't believe I haven't already created this blog post! (all pictures added are taken by me)

So, in no particular order, here are coffee shops in the Twin Cities that are killing it currently.

1. Cafe Astoria // Downtown St. Paul, MN

My favorite thing about this coffee shop is they're redefining coffee drinks. To be honest, its what we've all needed. To me it is a breath of fresh air compared to some other coffee shops I've been to recently. Their drinks are SO creative (campfire mochas, rainbow lattes, 24k lattes, matcha lattes) AND on top of that - they taste amazing! The drinks they make are just a small part of the shop too. They have smoothie bowls, oatmeal bowls and crepes (and other items) that are just as creative and tasty as well. What sets them apart is truly the presentation of their work. You will ALWAYS get a perfectly poured, cute, tasty coffee drink there. This is why their shop has EXPLODED this year. Everyone is trying to get their hands on some of the most instagramabble drinks out there. SO show up early, because that's the only way you'll find a seat. :)

2. Parallel Coffee // North Loopish Minneapolis, MN

Its the cool new kid in town. They recently opened a few weeks ago, and its instantly become a hit. They have an awesome open space with great a minimal interior design. Of course the scale tiles behind the coffee bar ARE actually everything in life. I love how much seating they have, because I can easily see myself working on something here or grabbing a drink with a friend. The baristas are ACTUAL magicians as well. Those people can POUR a latte. You'll mostly find a creative space with creative people, but the menu is pretty traditional coffee shop (nothing like Cafe Astoria). So if you're in the mood for the PERFECT latte - then go here! Oh another thing to mention is they have PARKING! Lots of parking around their coffee shop! Hard to come by in the cities.

3. Spyhouse on Snelling // St. Paul, MN

So sometime last year, Spyhouse Coffee opened a 5th location in St.Paul. It has to be one of my favorite decorated coffee shops in ALL of the Twin Cities. If you are a sucker for interior design, I think you will LOVE this location. The marble bar and counter tops, the pretty ceiling, the brass and wood accents make me SWOON. Of course this place is SO Instagrammable! You can find the same drink menu at this Spyhouse as the other ones, so no change there (Favorite coffee drink: The Spygirl). Check it out if your ever in that neck of the woods!

4. Urban Bean (on Bryant) // Uptown Minneapolis, MN

Urban Bean has always been one of my favorite coffee shops. The owner and staff are super cool and the whole atmosphere of the coffee shop is something that vibes well with me. A PLUS is they have a little parking lot. They recently had a makeover at their Bryant location from @impulse_creative and added a AWESOME new mural. I love the artsy/quirkey designs on their walls, because I think it makes them unique and worth visiting. They have awesome coffee drinks that are creative and some even come with an animal cracker - can't beat that right?! Check them out if you're wanting to visit a fun space in Minneapolis!

5. The Salty Tart // Lowertown St. Paul

The Salty Tart recently opened a cafe space in Lowertown sometimes last year and have been killing the coffee scene. They are known for their pastries, but I was pleasantly surprised with their coffee drinks. They also have an open, inviting space with lots of plants and some vintage/classic decor. Unlike some other coffee ships, they have an awesome food menu. So I encourage you to try something to eat there!
